Luminance launches AI Certification Pathway

Luminance today (24 November) formally announced the launch of its AI Certification Pathway, which provides university students with access to Luminance’s platform as well as legal training materials, webinars and assessments.
The certification is delivered through a partnership with universities and the first cohort of partners includes The University of Law, the UK’s largest law school; King’s College, London, one of the UK’s leading universities; and the Vanderbilt AI Law Lab (VAILL).
It follows news of King’s College’s AI Literacy Programme led by Professor Dan Hunter, executive dean of The Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College, which Luminance is part of. Hunter said that he is “a big fan” of Luminance’s AI Certification Pathway, observing: “A certification by vendors is a helpful signal to the market that the student/grad knows the platform. That can be useful for graduate employability, which is why I’m delighted that we’ll have lots of grads with certifications from multiple vendors. It’s not the same as a university subject, obviously, but you see it a lot in computer science and engineering.”
Luminance says that AI will also be used in the delivery of education materials wherever possible, maximising the holistic, AI-first approach of the program.
Luminance’s AI Certification Pathway is led by Harry Borovick, general counsel and AI governance officer, and the author of “AI and the Law”. Borovick also teaches master’s level courses on AI governance and legal technology at leading universities, including King’s College, ensuring that the program draws on current developments in both legal education and the practical use of AI across the profession.
Borovick said: “Legal AI training is integral to preparing today’s graduates for modern legal work. AI is increasingly integrated into the workstreams of legal teams; instead of fearing an AI ‘jobpocalypse’, students will understand the opportunities provided by AI, how they can stand out in the job market and how to supercharge their productivity. We couldn’t be more delighted with our first partners, each globally recognized for excellence in law and innovation. Together we can ensure the next generation of lawyers are equipped with the skills they need to thrive in an AI-driven world.”
